Shenandoah Growers Prepares for Thanksgiving
Shenandoah Growers produces certified organic herbs using indoor farming techniques.
“We can grow more consistently,” Heydon said, “and we can have a much higher yield.”
Heydon said this is the busiest time of the year for the farm.
“All of our people are working literally around the clock to get the product packed and out to the supermarket and the shelves so everyone can enjoy a fresh product for Thanksgiving,” Heydon said. “We have a very high demand for things like rosemary, sage, thyme, poultry blend and really all of the herbs.”
Planning starts in the summer for the farm so they’re ready for this time of year.
“We really work together as a family at all of our locations,” Heydon said. “We have nine different locations.”
The indoor farm portion is getting ready to expand soon — six new indoor farm rooms will be added throughout their nine locations.
