Pioneering Biosolids Innovation at WEFTEC 2024

BCR Environmental Showcases Sustainable Solutions with New Bio-Scru® IC150 and Solar CleanB®

As XPV Water Partners continues to champion innovation and sustainability in the water sector, we are proud to highlight BCR Environmental, an XPV portfolio company and a leader in biosolids treatment solutions. BCR’s cutting-edge technologies not only align with our commitment to environmental stewardship but also enhance the value of our investment portfolio by addressing critical challenges in wastewater management.

At its core, BCR Environmental specializes in the advanced treatment of biosolids, the residual materials from wastewater processing, converting them into safe, manageable, and valuable resources. BCR employs sophisticated technologies to process these materials, enabling their safe reuse or disposal. This approach not only helps utilities minimize waste and reduce operational costs but also ensures compliance with stringent environmental standards through more efficient management practices.

This year at WEFTEC, BCR’s theme is “Safe Hands,” emphasizing the trust, guidance, reassurance, and reliability they offer. This messaging resonates with XPV’s spirit of nurturing partnerships that are built on transparency and long-term collaboration. BCR’s commitment to being with their clients from concept through to ongoing support exemplifies the kind of dependable partnership XPV seeks in its investments.

Additionally, BCR will highlight their introduction of two new product lines at this year’s WEFTEC:

Bio-Scru® IC150

BCR is excited to unveil the Bio-Scru® IC150, the newest addition to their dryer lineup designed specifically for smaller facilities processing between 0.5 and 1.0 million gallons per day (MGD), depending on sludge type. This compact dryer retains the trusted benefits of larger models while catering to facilities with limited space and budget. With its compact and customizable design, the IC150 enables easy “plug-and-play” installation, reducing setup time and costs. It operates using less thermal energy and can run on natural gas, electricity, and as an additional option can use solar power, aligning with eco-friendly initiatives. Most importantly, the Bio-Scru® IC150 offers a cost-effective solution for over half of the U.S. wastewater treatment plants in the 0.5 to 1.0 MGD range. By providing high-quality sludge drying technology at a lower capital investment, it delivers significant economic benefits to smaller facilities that previously might not have had access to such advanced technology.

Solar CleanB®

In a significant stride toward sustainable solutions, BCR introduces the Solar CleanB®, a Class B disinfection system powered entirely by solar energy. This innovative technology delivers effective disinfection, deodorization, and stabilization of biosolids without incurring electrical costs. By eliminating electricity expenses through the utilization of renewable solar energy, the Solar CleanB® provides a low capital investment option for facilities aiming to reduce operational costs and environmental impact. Additionally, it offers the potential to generate excess electricity that can be sold back to the grid, creating a new revenue stream. By harnessing solar power, the Solar CleanB® not only reduces costs but also contributes to a facility’s sustainability goals, offering tangible economic advantages alongside environmental benefits.

BCR Environmental continues to strengthen XPV Water Partners’ portfolio through its dedication to delivering reliable, innovative, and sustainable biosolids solutions. By simplifying complex wastewater challenges, BCR helps utilities operate more efficiently and responsibly. The introduction of the Bio-Scru® IC150 and the Solar CleanB® underscores BCR’s role in addressing the evolving needs of the wastewater industry. As we approach WEFTEC 2024, we are excited to showcase how BCR and XPV are collaboratively shaping the future of biosolids management, reinforcing our commitment to building sustainable businesses and communities.
