MOBILTEX Takes on WEFTEC

Over 30 years of remote and field monitoring technology innovation, more than 200 major organizations across North America and around the globe, and over 160,000 miles of pipeline assets protected – since 1985, XPV Water Partners portfolio company MOBILTEX® has been a leader in corrosion monitoring, data management, and IIoT solutions. The company recently announced the acquisition of GCRTech, a UK-based manufacturer that offers technology solutions that reduce leakage, identify surges that increase stress on pipes, and optimize resources.

MOBILTEX® will be exhibiting at WEFTEC this coming September 30 – October 4. We spoke with Alain Lalonde, Vice President, Value Stream, to learn more about the company’s growing momentum in the water industry and the team’s plans for the conference.

WEFTEC is the world’s largest annual water quality exhibition, attracting utility leaders from across North America and the world. Why WEFTEC, and why now?

Alain Lalonde: With our brand GCRTech, we’re leveraging a team of technical instrumentation engineering experts to design and develop a wide range of robust and innovative field solutions to reduce non-revenue water loss and pipeline leakage. We’re excited to be announcing the launch of this line of products to the North American market at WEFTEC.

Tell us more about GCRTech. Why will this line appeal to water and wastewater utilities?

Alain Lalonde: Every day, the challenges that these utilities face are increasing. They manage thousands of miles of underground networks that are, in many cases, outdated, in need of repair, or beyond capacity. They have limited financial resources, and many have significant gaps in their workforce. Furthermore, they might not know the true state of their underground assets, which makes it a challenge to decide how and when to spend on repairs and maintenance to protect their systems – and public health.  Our products can help utilities remotely monitor these pipelines, identify priority areas, and make smart decisions about how and when to take action. Learning more about their systems in real time can help utilities save energy, reduce carbon footprint, and enhance the life of their assets.

What else are you hoping to achieve at the conference this year?

Alain Lalonde: I’m proud to report that the GCRTech line is enjoying a great deal of momentum, including in North America. WEFTEC is a great place to meet with potential value-added resellers and channel partners so we can expand our reach and sales network. We’re also using the opportunity in Chicago to increase water utility market knowledge of Mobiltex’s core IIoT solutions in remote monitoring of cathodic protection systems. It’s what our team is known for, and we want to leverage our combined expertise to bring these solutions to the water sector.
